Denmark pursues it green efforts with a lot of passion. Not only because it is playing host to the first ever United Nations Summit on Climate Change but because its people are really passionate about helping preserve the environment for the future generation.
Take for instance the former chief designer at the BMW and Aston Martin companies. Henrik Fisker of Denmark is one of the world’s most successful automobile designers who had worked with some of the most renowned car companies. Some of his famous creations are the Aston Martin DB9, V8 Vintage and BMW Z8. This man has, in fact, come up with his own car brand called Fisker Automotive and Fisker makes it a point to contribute to the global green movement by creating sports cars that are environment friendly.
The Fisker Karma sports car uses plug-in hybrid technology. A fully-charged Karma burns no fuel for the first 50 miles. Venture further and the gasoline engine turns a generator to charge the lithium ion battery. Once the 50-mile electric range has been exceeded, the car operates as a normal hybrid vehicle.
The driver will be able to select between two modes of driving. The first mode is Stealth Drive, which is the quiet economy mode for optimal relaxed and efficient driving. By flipping the second paddle behind the steering wheel, the Fisker Karma will switch to Sport Drive, which will access the full power of the vehicle.
Luckily, this top car designer has just been granted a billion dollar loan from the U.S. government. The DKK 6.6 billion loan will be used by Henrik Fisker to pursue his very own eco friendly car project. Under this project, hybrid sports cars known as Fisker Karma are being created. The truth is, some 1,500 copies of this brand has already been sold but you will only get to see them on the streets in 2010.
Fisker, who graduated from the Art Center College of Design in California, said he has come up with a solution that will still allow people to enjoy the things they like such as the car. And that’s the reason why he is passionate about creating an attractive yet eco friendly car going into the future. This successful car designer believes that a green car can still have the qualities of a regular automobile such as a great design and fast speed. Just because it is a green car doesn’t mean that it can’t look good like the popular brands.
