If you’re planning to visit Denmark in the summer, be sure to include Jesperhus Flower Park in your itinerary. The largest flower park in Denmark (and also in Northern Europe) is situated in Legind Bjerge south of Nykobing, one part of an entire resort and entertainment center that is guaranteed fun for the entire family. The other parts consist of a JungleZoo which houses tropical and exotic animals and the amusement park with fun rides, games, a 4D cinema and sections for live performances. Here you can also find the longest waterfall in Denmark.
But perhaps the biggest attraction is the hundreds of thousands of flowers, shrubs and flowering plants that are all a-bloom in Jesperhus. One special area is called the H.C. Andersen’s Fairytale Garden. Inspired by the author’s most popular fairytales, visitors will find an interesting assembly of fictional characters made with flowers. Another area is called the “Rosenhaven” or the Rose Garden where you can bask in the sweet and heady smell of thousands of roses during the summer months of July to September. If you are thinking of starting your own flower garden then get inspired in the “Inspiration Garden.” Walk over the bridge made of rows of different flowers and learn the names of the different bordering plants that are used in the garden. Other areas include the Oriental Garden with its collection of succulents and the Sense Avenue where you can walk, smell, touch and even taste medicinal plants and herbs such as thyme, catmint and peppermint.
